The Wilding
48” x 48” | Acrylic on Linen
Like the cross-section of a tree, The Wilding reveals layers of transformation—each brushstroke a ring of growth, each color a memory of what was and what is becoming. This piece embodies the raw, untamed force of nature reclaiming space, much like the way motherhood reshapes identity. The sweeping arcs and organic movement reflect the tension between past and present, freedom and responsibility, the wild self, and the grounded one.
The earthy tones anchor the work in nature, while the lighter forms emerge like glimpses of new possibilities—traces of who I was before, interwoven with who I am now. The raw linen peeks through intentionally, exposing the foundation beneath the layers, a reminder that even as transformation unfolds, the original essence remains. This interplay of depth and exposure mirrors the reconciliation of personal evolution—the constant push and pull between what is shed and what is kept.
The Wilding is both a release and an exploration, a reflection of the ongoing journey to integrate independence, wildness, and rootedness.
