This polished steel piece is inspired by dock pilings and the organic matter that accumulates on them, mirroring the ebb and flow of changing water levels. The work also incorporates “ghost gear” collected from beaches. “Ghost gear” is the term used for discarded commercial fishing gear that is often found washed up on beaches around the globe, making up a large portion of our oceans’ plastic pollution. Combined with mirror polished stainless steel and textural painting, the pearlescent colors allude to the shellfish that reclaim dock pilings and help clean our waters.
