This piece was inspired by a walk at Maiden castle in Dorset, England. An Iron Age hill fort, it's scale is overwhelming and the surrounding countryside has a sway and movement to it, as if the earth were moving underneath it's skin. The sheep that graze it's sides make regular lines and patterns in the grass- a gift to the artist. I have visited it in all weathers- but I prefer the wind and rain as you can see. In this piece, we are looking outwards to the surrounding countryside from the fort.

This piece has been started as a drypoint etching- a plate made by scratching into metal or card. This was then printed on an etching press at Spike print Studio in Bristol. I have then collaged coloured and textured tissue paper into the pieces, as well as hand mono-printed onto them (this is like printed painting- very gestural). Each piece emerges from the process completely unique- albeit with a family resemblance to the others in the series.

I know it can be a little daunting buying art online, so feel free to contact me at if you'd like any further photos, videos or information, with no pressure or obligation. It can be enjoyable to find just the right piece of art for your space. I also undertake commissions, so if you'd like something similar to what you see, but bespoke to your needs, just let me know.
