This piece is part of a series of work inspired by Wessex (Dorset, Wiltshire and Somerset) landscapes and seascapes. It's a mixed media piece on board made up of acrylic painting, collage (hand prints on tissue paper) and drawn elements.
This piece and it's sister piece are inspired by the enormous stretch of sand at Brean Sands on the Severn estuary in Somerset, over looked by the spit of land called Brean Down, itself an ancient site.
Vast expanses of sand stretch to the horizon. Watery reflections, looking on and looking through create visual illusions and hazy drifts of colour and texture.
