Artist: Leslie Gabaldon
Leslie Gabaldon (B. 1964) is a Venezuelan-American artist who lives and works in Miami, FL. She
attended The New England School of Art & Design in Boston, MA, The Art Students League of NY, and
studied photography at Broward College. She focused her attention on new media since 1988 (being
among the first artists in the USA to experiment with computer-generated work, shown at Sygraph. 1990
(Boston, MA). Her tendencies towards other mediums eventually lead her to embrace photography as
the foundation of her work.
Gabaldon's ideas stem from concepts of sociological memory, notably about women's issues in the
contemporary world. However, her ideas transcend current topics in society and the complexities of
human relationships. She controls the production of her photographs, making it a crucial part of her
process. Consequently, her studio has become a laboratory of possibilities, where mixing technology
with art is the normality of every day.
