Semi-finalist: Doug Moran National Portrait Prize 2014

Portrait of Adelaide based Writer-Director-Producer, Murali K. Thalluri. It is acrylic painted on linen, embedded with multiple layers of ink in the shadows and hair, from the pages of his upcoming film script "ONE", which will be filmed in South Africa later this year. Here I have captured both the unguarded and pensive side of him. Murali is a very open, friendly character, but also a very deep thinker, his writing and films often touch on dark topics. Using his writings in the shadows reflects this ambiguity between divinity and chaos.
