Takoma Watercolor Group - Pathways: A Journey Through Watercolor
- February 23, 2025 - March 21, 2025
The Takoma Watercolor Group, comprised of eight Montgomery County artists, Barbara Bell, Jim Burks, David Daniels, Monika Griff, Margo Kabel, Diane Rudzinski, Jane Salomon, and Michael Shibley, present the multifaceted nature of watercolor painting as a medium for both expression and exploration. The exhibit showcases a diverse array of watercolor influenced artworks, demonstrating how pathways, literal and metaphorical, intertwine, connected by the unpredictability of vibrancy of watercolors.
The theme Pathways encapsulates the journey of both the artist and the viewer. Pathways can represent physical trails in nature, urban landscapes, emotional journeys, and spiritual quests. Watercolor both mirrors and inspires new pathways, inviting viewers to see the world through the unique lens of each artist. We invite viewers to consider their own pathways and how they intersect with the themes portrayed in the exhibit.
The group, all experienced in the methods of traditional watercolor painting, meets weekly to enjoy painting, learning from one another, and benefiting from the expertise of outside sources. They just had their sixteen-year anniversary and continue to develop new techniques, materials, and ideas in their paintings and other watercolor inspired media. The use of unusual papers, gesso, inks, and collage are evident in works in this exhibit.
