Contrasting forms, negative and positive spaces, and polished and coarse surfaces.
Judge's comments: The lovely pale green tones with brown and orange color veins of the alabaster provide a perfect medium to this elegant organic form. The smoothness and simplicity of the curves show an appreciation for the subject matter and the stonework mastery of the artist. The interplay of opposites, positive and negative, smoothness and roughness, perfectly supports the concept of interaction, balance, and separate parts forming a complementary whole.
