Judge's comments: This is a wonderful and refined drawing of a nude figure. Every line, edge, and muscle has been considered in a sophisticated way. The form is rendered perfectly, and the charcoal strokes have a soft, flowing quality which captures the subtleties of flesh and skin tone. The artist worked in colors darker and lighter than the mid-range tone of the paper, allowing the figure to appear almost sculpted on the sheet and effectively illustrating the lights and shadows that fall across this model. This is an exceptional image.
