This piece represents the Milky Way in the celestial southern hemisphere according to the Inca tradition. These ancient people saw in the dark side of our galaxy a reflection of their everyday life, involving the grazing of llamas, and protecting them from danger, as depicted by a fox, a snake and a turbulent space. They also saw an important meaning in the area where the Milky Way crosses the Ecliptic. We now know that there lies the center of our galaxy, with its supermassive black hole.
