In numerous cultures the Milky Way has been associated with water. Celestial River or Silver River is how the Chinese refer to the galaxy. Andean Cultures call it Mayu, the source of water to all earth. The Kauma People in South Africa call it Wodliparri, and it is said to be a river flanked by bonfires.
