54" x 93" . Acrylic on Canvas
As with many of my abstract works, the meanings often come well into the painting process.
Such was the case with 'Refugee I.' As these odd shapes became figures and for me, came to life, I felt as if there was a deep longing within them, for communion, forgiveness, surrender and acceptance for each other, after a very long, cold dark period in our lives.
As I finished the work, I definitely felt more connected to others in an odd way, without actually having made any actual human contact, and inspired to do my part in healing a broken family, a nation torn apart by so many ugly and needless arguments.
