This serigraph required 15 color separations. Itwas created at Lafayette College's Experimental Printmaking Institute. It was presented by the Atlanta National Black Arts Festival as the 2006 Collector's Guild Print. This work is part of my Warrior Women series
My only way of channeling overwhelming despair and rage is to make a work of art. There are times when an occurrence is far more than an event and so powerful that it inspires the most visceral reactions. "They Damaged Us More Than Katrina" was my expression of the US government's appalling response to Hurricane Katrina. My attempt was to give form and color to chaos and search for dignity, beauty and strength in the face of something unspeakably atrocious.
