A foggy morning in Owls Head Harbor, Maine: I painted this watercolor from a floating dock. While I worked, I recorded the ambient sounds around me with a Sony MiniDisc stereo recorder. It was interesting to go back and listen to the recording to discover many subtle sounds I may not have heard while painting. The recording is quiet and very relaxing. Lapping waves, seagulls, a foghorn, ship's bells, the faint chugging of diesel engines and lobstermen talking to one another in the distance are just a few of the many sounds...
