Roanoke Police Officers
- Colored pencil on paper
- David Ramey
The late David A. Ramey captured many images of Roanokers, from fellow Norfolk Southern employees to these African-American police officers from the early, segregated years of the 1960s.
Community policing has deep roots in Roanoke. The officers pictured here—officers Taylor, Robinson, Perry, Fields, and Stovall—are remembered by many residents still for their visible presence; enforcement of order; and fair, community-minded approach.
