Collector and author Cathryn Hankla emphasizes the work of women artists in her acquisitions. For this exhibition, she shares a look at the history of the City Market from well-known artist Ann Glover. “I think people are interested in the character of our community over time,” says Hankla, “especially the market area as a central and welcoming gathering spot.”
The City of Roanoke has several works by Ann Glover in the permanent collection, including the beloved Trojan Dog in front of Raleigh Court’s Fire Station #7. Glover also has a work, Dowsing Man currently on the Elmwood Artwalk
