Public spaces such as city and neighborhood parks, sidewalks, the greenway and the city market work to make people feel comfortable and welcome. “We all have access to these places,” says Hubler. “Small investments that make us feel welcome and comfortable in them make a real difference, and when they are working well, they bring us together with people different from us.”
