Maureen Eiger: She Helps Wild Birds

Maureen Eiger is a federally licensed bird rehabilitator and founder of Help Wild Birds. All 108 species of birds shown in this portrait by Kelly Prim were cared for by Eiger, from her home. The red strings symbolize the unique connection tying Eiger to each bird.
Kelly Prim was brought to Roanoke 15 years ago as a zookeeper for Mill Mountain Zoo. Since then she has become an educator and artist. When writing about this work, Prim says, “The more we can do to help injured or orphaned wild birds by getting them to experts like Maureen Eiger, the more we truly can care for our planet.”
