“Gloria Randolph-King was my principal at Lucy Addison Middle School,” says artist graphic designer, and City of Roanoke Artist in Residence Robyn Mitchell. “She inspired me as a young student and encouraged me academically. She was one of many women who inspired me to eventually join sorority Delta Sigma Theta.”

Retired from Roanoke City Public Schools, Randolph-King continues to serve in many civic capacities, including leading the NAACP Youth Council and the Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO) competitions at which students have earned scholarships and awards for their innovative and artistic achievements.
