Lexington native Lucinda Rowe specializes in delicately detailed watercolor paintings of wildlife.

“For me, one of the best ways to learn about something is to draw or paint it,” says Rowe. “What is that insect or mushroom I saw while hiking? How many primary feathers does a cardinal have? In turn, I hope that my paintings inspire the viewer to walk in the woods, pick up a pair of binoculars, or just simply become curious about the world around them.

“Roanoke is ideally suited for such pursuits. I love that we live in such a wonderful spot to hike, canoe, and bird. Such close proximity to nature allows me to refill my creativity easily.”
