Artist: Elena Morales x
This mural is an enlarged vinyl installation based on a painting by Elena Morales, a rising Senior from Northside High School. Morales’s painting features her looking over the water at Carvins Cove. “We were on a field trip to Carvins Cove and I had just found out about the contest, so I was trying to find reference photos and then I had my friend to take a picture of me looking over the water and I thought that would be a great thing to represent the water. I typically go with a more impressionistic style, so like with the water, the separate colors the bright colors, represent me and my art style personally” said Morales. The contest was created to showcase young artists and celebrate the Authority’s twenty years of service in the valley with the theme of “Our Valley’s Clean Water Future.” The last contest was held in 2018 with Ashley Roop being the winner.
