The sculpture entitled 'In My Hands' is a public art sculpture by artist Carroll Rodney who originally crafted this piece to celebrate the city's 125th anniversary and its theme of People, Pride, and Promise. This sculpture was the first project under the Percent for Art Program. Artists from across the United States applied to create a major work of art to be placed at the Roanoke Civic Center to celebrate the theme and out of 89 applicants, artist Rodney Carroll was chosen. Rodney described this stainless steel sculpture as welcoming. As he stated in the dedication pamphlet of "In My Hands," “the sculpture is structured by three supportive elements that raise the mass of the work high in the air and represent the three elements: People, Pride Promise, wrapping around each other, the three elements mutually support each other as the sculpture reaches upward toward the sky. The polished stainless steel pipes and the sculptural elements bring a feeling of celebration.” "In My Hands" is located at the entrance of The Berglund Center.
