Robyn Mitchell’s work draws inspiration from her community involvement. “It’s my optimism about where we can go together,” she says.

Mitchell’s goals for our community are multi-faceted. “I have goals for the greater Roanoke community, the Black community, the disenfranchised community, the impoverished community, the artistic community, the small business community, and more. But ultimately, my goal for our communities is for all communities to collectively thrive and prosper.”

“My goal as an artist,” says Mitchell, “is to collaborate, inspire, and make a collective impact on the communities I serve.” Mitchell will serve as a Parks and Recreation artist in residence this year, connecting neighbors to the development of a new Eureka Park community center.
