2024 Monique Rolle-Johnson "Jubilation" Solo Exhibition at the Atrium Gallery

Rhode Island State Council on the Arts presents "Jubilation", a Solo Exhibition by Monique Rolle-Johnson, on display Feb 9- April 17 at RISCA’s Atrium Gallery at One Capitol Hill, main floor, state’s Administration Building in Providence. The exhibition features mixed-media paintings on wood and canvas in vivid colors with expressionistic imagery.
The Opening Reception is on Thursday, Feb. 29, 5 p.m. - 7 p.m., in the Atrium Gallery, first floor of the state’s Administration Building, One Capitol Hill, Providence. There will be a Meet the Artist on Thursday, March 28, noon-1 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public.
The Opening Reception will feature performances by North Providence’s Kim Trusty, and Cranston’s House of Mōny, LLC., and W.A.R. Dance Collective, featuring choreographer, Melodie Thompson.

A figurative colorist who skillfully utilizes color, depth, and design, Rolle-Johnson’s trademarks are etched in her artistic flamboyance and rich, ethnic heritage. Affectionately penned, The Artistic Diva, her talents range from drawing, to printmaking, illustration to her signature bold paintings, and interior designs to curatorial oversight. Rolle-Johnson’s works are in private and gallery collections both nationally and internationally.
Her solo and group exhibitions spanned the United States and the Caribbean.
Rolle-Johnson has 25 years as a consummate educator instructing through curricula, life skills, and aspirational mentorship. She has taught within every academic level ranging from elementary to collegiate. She has received degrees from RISD and The University of the Bahamas in conjunction with the University of the West Indies.
A native of the Bahamas, Monique serves as co-principal of the House of Mōny, LLC., and continues to be sought for her art and design consultations, educational expertise, and fine art commissions.
Atrium Gallery at One Capitol Hill
Rhode Island State Council on the Arts developed the Atrium Gallery to recognize artists from communities throughout the state. The Atrium Gallery hosts multidisciplinary exhibitions in partnership with diverse artists and cultural organizations. The Gallery features a stunning tall glass ceiling with light that cascades into an open space surrounded by three walls of artwork. This has become a destination point for visitors and the many people who frequent the administration offices at One Capitol Hill, while enriching the environment for hundreds of state workers in the building.
Solo Exhibitions Program
The Atrium Gallery hosts solo exhibitions each year displaying an array of mediums that includes but is not limited to paintings, sculpture, photography, textiles, and installation. The public gallery features emerging and established artists who are interested in exploring and showcasing their creative vision through an exceptional body of work. Selected artists are provided an installation preparatory specialist, promotional brochure or postcard, opening gallery reception, as well as being included in RISCA’s website and newsletter.
The Rhode Island State Council on the Arts is a state agency supported by appropriations from the Rhode Island General Assembly and grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. RISCA provides grants, technical assistance and staff support to arts organizations and artists, schools, community centers, social service organizations and local governments to bring the arts into the lives of Rhode Islanders.
