2015 Argentina and Latin America Art Exhibit at the Atrium Gallery New Visions New Curator Series
- December 15, 2014 - January 15, 2015
Rhode Island State Council on the Arts presents the "2015 Argentina and Latin America Art Exhibit" at the Atrium Gallery @ One Capitol Hill. This exhibit is part of the New Visions New Curators Mentoring Series Program and the International Artist and Cultural Exchange Program.
Curator: Analia Alcolea
Curator Statement: Through this showcase and for the first time in the History of Rhode Island, Argentina says: PRESENTE! With this first showcase of unique art from so many individuals who never leave the memories of their country behind, and who proudly today share with you their pride for their country and love for the arts. Every single piece of artwork is the deepest treasure of this minimum space that we share with the enormous sense of existence. There is nothing more moving than a human being showing their feelings through artistic expression, nothing more vulnerable, delicate, or valuable. When that happens there is nothing better than to share it and be surrounded by friends who care and understand how the love for our mother land runs deep and strong through our veins. I’m humbled and so proud to share this experience with all of you, our friends from Latin America.
Participating Artists: Diego Zamberlan, Cecilia Pirotto, Carolina Donnantuoni, Liliana Balgu, Sergio Andreoni, Alan Oscar Alberto, Ariana Wohl, Tamara Diaz, Robert Thorn, Saul Ramos, Mayra Martinez, Shey Rivera Rios, Marleny Luna, Providence Tango
Performances: Shey Rivera Rios, Marleny Luna, Leslie Killgore, Steven Spura
State Latin American Art Exhibit
The Latin American Art Exhibit brings recognition to the diverse, artistic talents of individuals from the thriving Latin American community. These artists are from various Latin American countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, Ecuador, and it is here where they come together under the Latin American Art Exhibit umbrella. Artists never leave the memories of their country behind and proudly share their pride and love for both their culture and the arts. The Latin American exhibit is dedicated to preserving the art, culture, and heritage of the Latin American Community.
New Visions/New Curators Mentoring Series Program
The Atrium Gallery at One Capitol Hill encourages the development of new curators and gallery directors from diverse communities through the New Visions/New Curator Series. Artists of color are provided the guidance and mentorship needed to curate a show at the Atrium Gallery. Many of these artists go on to curate future exhibits in local and regional galleries and museums.
