Based on the idea of a catena – a series of individual elements that together form a chain – the design comprises numerous, interconnected sections of color that reflect the diversity and individuality of the Nursing School’s students, faculty and staff, as well as the vital connective role that nurses play within the work-places and communities they serve, and across the lifespans of the individuals for which they care. The artwork visualizes this chain of connections as a thread unfurling across time and between people, driving the energy, knowledge and innovations needed to keep moving ONWARD. Its joyful aerial form honors the journey behind and lifts the eyes to the way ahead.
