Born and raised in Rhode Island I have been in love with creating since I can remember. After graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in Illustration, I acquired my MAE from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. This year marks my 25th year as a visual arts teacher in the Cranston Public School System.

Landscape is my primary inspiration, but it is color that really drives me to create. Exploration of color is what I set out to do every time I pick up my paintbrush. I no longer feel compelled to “get it right”, my purpose is to experience the light, seasons, and times of day that influence color.

I am a member of the South County Art Association, and the Wickford Art Association. My home is in North Kingstown, RI and I share it with my husband and our two dogs.

Artist Statement
“Maybe I am not very human- what I wanted to do was to paint sunlight on the side of a house” -Edward Hopper

As I young artist and still today this quote has been my basis for creating art. It is the simplicity of the statement and the purity of the endeavor that calls to me. In every piece I create there is that “want”. Sunlight on the side of a house, shape of a cloud, or sinuosity of a figure. Attracted to flat color; and an almost stylized, graphic interpretation of my subject matter, I find my focus to be on relaying color in a bright bold way. I want the color to call to the viewer first, no matter what the subject matter. I experience life through my painting and look to share that experience with the
viewer.
