Here in Transyvania, the seasons and weather present constant changes in mood and color register in the landscape. In winter, once the cornfields are cut and the leaves have fallen from the trees, the scene opens up, and when the snow arrives, the near-monochrome view of the fields offers a stillness and calm particular to this season.
I rendered the sky in wash, but, as the scene is virtually monochromatic, I have left the primed canvas to depict the snow in the fields, and painting only the plants and trees peeking through the snow cover.
