During my childhood beside the river Mole, I passed many idle hours drifting in a punt along the river. Perhaps this explains the fact that when I clear my head of preconceptions, and face a blank canvas with the intention of creating an abstract painting, it frequently develops into a watery scene.

I hope that these semi-abstracts evince for other people the tranquility they bring me.
