The City I Live In

This piece is a made of a heavily patined old wooden door collected from a part of Johannesburg heavily affected by xenophobic rioting . I etched and stained and painted the door until it became a map like surface of my city. I liked the use of an old door from a house, with all the marks of the previous users to create a memory of a city
