I painted this at the beginning of shelter in place of the pandemic when it was nice to be home and have more time to paint and be with my family unit. At that moment, it felt like a gift. This Dahlia made me think of joy because of the colors and how each inner tubular petal is like an individual trumpet singing creating a musical harmony of pleasure.
