One morning, early in the summer, I had arranged to meet up with my plein air painting friend to take reference photos of the water and paint for a bit. This was the only time our schedules worked and when I woke up that morning, I was quite disappointed that there was no glorious light. The sun was certainly nowhere to be found under the think layer of foggy clouds. We decided to go anyway. What I found surprised me. The color of the water was fascinating. The greens and grays were beyond beautiful and where the water meets the sky was completely blurred into one. So far, this is the fourth painting from a morning that almost didn't happen. Lesson learned - you don't always need perfect conditions to find beauty.
