Ever since I was in art school, there was hope that one day Athens could have its own art house cinema. Lucky for us, Brigitta Hangartner opened Ciné in 2007 and, as shown in this painting, it has a very welcoming vibe.
My Ciné painting describes a quiet moment at the entrance to the former tire recap facility that was renovated into one of the best gathering places in Athens.
I've had many memorable experiences here: watching foreign and classic films, attending (and participating in) art exhibits, enjoying live music and poetry events, and even attended a wedding reception! (In fact, this is where my own retirement celebration was held!)
