‘Windmill Serenade’
A story passed down through our family generations tells of a gathering long ago, when the night was full of excitement. My Grandfather-in-Law, who was never one for tall tales, would quietly recall how a fearless fiddle player climbed to the top of the tower, hooked himself upside down by his toes on the wooden platform, and played his fiddle for the astonished crowd below. Because he was not a teller of tales, this family story has endured, treasured for the glimpse it gives into the wild, joyful spirit of those earlier days.
