Devil's Slide is a rock cliff formation and there are more than several throughout the United States with this name. For me, this painting was inspired by Devil's Slide, a cliff located on the side of Cinnabar Mountain, near Gardiner Montana and the north entrance to Yellowstone National Park. The slide was created from alternate beds of limestone, sandstone, and quartzites that have tilted to a near vertical presentation and have eroded at different rates. The natural world is so fascinating!
This painting is in oil and cold wax on a cradled panel and is in the Force of Nature series.
