The Space Between is part of a series examining Knoxville’s evolving architectural landscape. I’m drawn to older buildings that remain occupied by small, locally owned businesses—structures that continue to adapt rather than be replaced.
Subtle imagery layered beneath the surface functions like a watermark, suggesting how these businesses remain embedded in the city even as larger developments reshape it. The work reflects my interest in balance—between growth and preservation, and between what is most visible and what quietly holds a place together.
