I love the way cork oak trees lean out at different angles, especially on top of a slight mound like this. After the rains there are patches of bright green vegetation growing beneath the trees, so reminiscent of camelthorns in the Kalahari. Always a richness of birds and bird song around these trees. I think we saw an adult Spanish Imperial Eagle soar off to great height in the distance. Sketched these to a backdrop of Wood Larks and Thekla's Larks calling and displaying.
