This view is a functional rendering of the great Masjid and its environs. Drawn with a great economy of lines and without any aesthetic additions, it conveys the surroundings and the functions of the great mosque which encloses the Ka'bah and the other important religious buildings within. Capturing the rectangular shape and the minarets with simplicity, the sketch also conveys the environs around the mosque with the surrounding high hills and the rocks. Scattered all around are a multitude of figures and caravans with camels which convey the rush of pilgrims to this holy spot.
