“Raudat-Maghferat" by Fatema Penwala is a representation of the iconic structure of Raudat Tahera in Mumbai. This work of art is inspired by the architectural elements of al-Jame al-Aqmar, the mudawwara from al-Jame al-Juyushi, and the white marble sourced from the same quarry as the Taj Mahal.
For the artist, Raudat Tahera holds a special place in her heart as a safe haven for whispering troubles, sharing achievements, and seeking forgiveness. In this painting, the mountains depict the worries and problems of the world, which can seem overwhelming and insurmountable. However, when the artist thinks of Raudat Tahera, she feels a sense of peace and hope.
Raudat Tahera is portrayed as a garden of forgiveness, a place where one can find solace and hope amidst the troubles of the world. The lines "Tame Himmat na cho Pahad, Jood na dariya cho" encapsulate the idea of finding hope in the midst of adversity.
