Atlantic Puffin, Skomer Island, Wales
Each summer, over 40,000 puffins return to Skomer to raise their young, spending the rest of the year far out at sea. Despite their small size — just 20–30 cm long — they can reach speeds of up to 80 kph. In a remarkable display of agility, they land at their burrows carrying up to ten fish in their beaks to feed their chicks. Waiting at their borrows are Sea Gulls ready to steal their hard earned food. You have just a few moments to capture the puffins as they fly inland before they disappear into their borrows.
