For the past several years we have visited Sayulita, Mexico during our mid-winter break for a much needed infusion of sun during our long, dark, northwest winters. The town is so incredibly vibrant with arts and crafts, murals, and decorations of the public spaces for the annual Sayulita Days festivities in the week leading up to the 24th of February, Mexican Flag day.

The acrylic painting, Sol y Selva 2, was inspired by the by the vibrant colors of the town and the light and shadows of the sol y selva (or sun and jungle) as they came into the open air palapa where I set up my painting studio.
