This greenscape oil painting is inspired by the rainy reflections off a pond in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. I was stunned by the range of summer green hues in the grass, bushes, flowers and trees, all with the blue of the mountains rising in the backround sky. I imagined this scene as though viewing it through a window as it's pouring rain out, abstracted the colors and dragging some of the color from the top of the window canvas as the raindrops roll down the scene. At a certain point, this is artwork is no longer about the scene that it started as, because then it is transformed, abstracted, and recreated in the celebration of materiality, texture, and temporality in the process.
