One hundred years ago, the "Landing" was the known as the clamshell button factory, where workers created buttons from the clams that were dredged from the river's bottom. Now a charming guesthouse, the Landing is a hub for fishermen and fisherwomen and a popular place for visitors to spend time on the banks of the Mississippi River in Guttenberg IA. The neighbor boys were my models for this painting, with their dog "Tracker". Their beloved buddy "Rex" is no longer with us, but looks on in this painting, as this artist has a soft spot in her heart for that silly little dog.
