This painting was created at the south marina in Guttenberg IA as the sun was coming up on a brisk clear morning. I set up inside the marina building in the dark and sketched in the layout. I could hear the call of eagles while I set up on the patio just outside the marina when the sky began to get light and was ready to put in the color as the sun came up - a morning like this reminds me of how thankful I am to live on the Mississippi River. It's beauty continues year round.
