Mezzotint is a reductive technique, which allows me to find the image in the plate,
rather than putting the image onto the plate. This is a very satisfying way for me to
work. Additionally, the rich blacks possible with mezzotint allow me to explore shadows and
their function in a print, adding compositional structure and emotional content to the
image.
