Forrester, a plein air painter, was invited by Pyramid to try her hand at a complex media experience that combined her love of painting with the as yet unknown territories of screenprint and collage. An actual painting by the artist was scanned to retrieve the large-scale flowers. Two flowers were then digitally printed on thin Japanese paper. The first step was the production of a free form pulp painting, to which a layer of purple screenprint ink was added to provide depth and shadows. Finally, the chine colle’ of the flowers was adhered to make the feel of the budding flowers as real as possible.
