K House is a ghost monotype print, created with the assistance of Susan J. Goldman in Pyramid’s Riverdale print studio. Christenberry loved working with thick ink in the fashion of some of his earlier paintings, so Goldman was able to pull up to two “ghost” prints from most of the monotypes he created. The signature KKK house, a frequent subject of the artist, with the skeletal tree, pleased Christenberry in its elemental qualities. He went on to create Memory Form with Nick Karvounis as a black and white lithograph, again modifying and simplifying the southern homes he had been photographing in the South for so many years, always commenting about how the dogs now ran through the former slave dwelling doorways.
