Rebecca Harrison is an Omaha muralist who is a co-director of "A Midsummer’s Mural", a 20 year old Omaha based mural company. She graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha with an art history degree in 2013. At UNO, Rebecca was the president of the Organization for the Advancement of the Arts, UNO’s student art association.
Rebecca interned at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts in 2012 and with muralist Dave Lowenstein in 2013 on the mural “Working Together Towards A People’s Art” in Hastings, Nebraska. It was the last of 6 murals done for the Mid-America Arts Alliance Mural Project. She attended the Community Built Association Conference in 2014 and assisted Caryl Yasko, a pioneer in the community mural movement, with a mural in downtown Davis, CA. Her mural design work includes the Nebraska Odyssey 13th Street Mural and the Murdock Museum Mural in Murdock, NE.
Rebecca is a founding member of the South Omaha Mural Project, which has produced ten large scale community murals about different neighborhoods and groups in South Omaha. She has been an arts educator for five years, teaching ceramics, painting, printmaking, preschool art, and open studio classes to students of all ages at the Salvation Army Kroc Center. Rebecca is on the Artists in Schools and Communities Roster for the Nebraska Arts Council which conducts art workshops across the State.
