Kristin Pluhacek lives and works in Omaha, Nebraska. Her drawings and paintings have been exhibited extensively in Midwestern fine arts galleries and museums, and her work is represented in numerous public and private collections. She was recently selected as part of the State Department Arts Envoy program for travel to Asmara, Eritrea where she gave a workshop on drawing techniques to local artists and worked with them in creating a group of large-scale, collaborative paintings which continue to tour the country. Kristin has led many other projects, including the mural “Hanscom Postcard”, a collaboration between the UNO SummerWorks program and the Omaha Parks Department; the Lauritzen Gardens Lewis and Clark Interpretive Icon; and "Reach for Your Dreams", a collaboration between Mutual of Omaha, Campfire USA and the United States Swimming Association in conjunction with the 2008 Olympic Swim Trials. She is also the illustrator for the book, “Send Me Tulips” (Prisma press) and the set designer for “Raskol”, one of five 2012 Great Plains Theatre Conference Playfest plays. Kristin is a BFA graduate of Creighton University, where she is a drawing instructor. She is also a roster artist for the Nebraska Arts Council Artists in Schools/Communities program and a drawing instructor at Metropolitan Community College.
