William Lowe’s sincere interest in all things maritime originates from his many years of living and boating along the coasts of Southern California. He took to his artistic talents as a young man, and used his natural ability with color to work in the paint manufacturing industry as a professional color matcher. He has also completed a 2 year course by the Los Angeles Society for Coatings Technology on paint technology. He now pursues his marine art career on a full-time basis.
His work experience includes 13 years working at the prestigious Vallejo Maritime Art Gallery, Newport Beach CA,
Training includes formal art training at the College level and many local art classes by Scott Moore and Plein Air training by John Stobart and Mark Kerckhoff.
A long-time participant with the American Society of Marine Artists, Lowe was recognized by his peers and made a signature artist member of the society in 2004. He has exhibited works at both the prestigious Mystic Seaport International Marine Art Show and the Coos Bay Maritime Art Exhibit. He has won many awards including a first, second and third place awards at the Ventura County Maritime Museum, American Society of Marine Artists region five art competitions. Also a best of show award at the American Society of Marine Artists, region five show at the San Diego Maritime Museum. His art was also accepted and shown in the American Society of Marine Artists East Coast Museum traveling exhibitions, New England Regional Traveling Exhibition 2008. Exhibited at: The Cultural Center of Cape Cod, MA., Herresoff Maritime Museum and America’s Cup Hall of Fame, Bristol RI and The Maine Maritime Museum, Bath ME.
William was illustrated in the 30th Anniversary of the American Society Of Marine Artists "CONTEMPORARY AMERICAN MARINE ART", 2008-2009 edition, page 12. Also exhibited at: Chase Center on the Riverfront, Wilmington,DE, Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, St. Michaels, MD, The Noyes Museum of Art, Oceanville, NJ, Spartanburg Art Center, SC, and the New Bedford Art Museum, MA.
